The following examples of some of our projects will help to illustrate the scope of our experience .These projects have been carried out since 1999:

· Tracey Timber Recycling. - A one-year diversification project. Alternative products and markets were developed for recycled wood. These included horticultural mulches and animal bedding. The project was featured as a case study in UK’s Govt. funded Waste and Resources Action Programme.

· Enviroscot Ltd.- A market development project to introduce the company to the recycled wood market. Support was provided for an attempt to acquire a rival recycling operation.

· Churngold Holdings. - A project to introduce the client to buyers in the chipboard industry. The introduction of a 'quality culture' was a feature of this project.

· Just Wood. - The development of supply infrastructure for a large wood recycling operation.

· The Glassman. -The development of packaging for a consumer product developed from recycled glass.

· G. Hadfield and Son Ltd.- An introduction of recycled wood into the cat litter market.

· Enviromulch - Marketing mulches to the retail garden sector, using UHL’s own sales force ( since sold ).

· Northern Cullet Ltd. - Marketing recycled glass products to the retail garden sector.

· Eco Composting Ltd. - A short project to explore the potential for wood chipping alongside a composting operation.

· Becker Underwood. - A project to expand the market for American colourants in the UK recycled wood mulch sector. Extensive promotion of recycled products was involved, including work with the Eden Project, which resulted in expanded business for Eco-Composting.

· SembCorp Utilities UK Ltd. – A 2 year project to secure the biomass fuel supplies for a dedicated biomass burning power station to be operational in 2007 on Teesside. The requirement for 300,000 tonnes of virgin and recycled wood per annum, over 10 years, was successfully contracted on behalf of the client, allowing finance to be secured and the project to go ahead with a secure fuel supply.

· A W Jenkinson Forest Products. – Advise provided on the use of recycled wood in a new dedicated biomass power station to be operational in 2007.

· Scottish Biofuels. – A review of the strategy to secure 700,000 tonnes biomass per annum for a proposed Scottish power station.

· Allclear Environmental. – A marketing plan to launch a horse bedding product into the Irish Market. The product is made from recycled wood.

· Giffords. – Marketing support to help expand their market for recycled wood derived mulches, and to expand their supply of good quality feedstock.

· Eco Composting Ltd. – A project to improve the profitability of a new wood recycling operation.

· Enviros – Support provided for a project to improve the segregation of mixed supplies of recycled wood.

· NIFES – A study of the feasibility of using recycled wood in a proposed new Scottish biomass power station.

Projects for international organisations are also undertaken, e.g.:

· Forest Stewardship Council - A project to develop international standards and a label for paper and wood products containing up to 100% recycled fibre. This project now means that any product containing over 70% recycled wood or fibre content may carry the FSC label. This includes growing media and mulches. Multiple retailers in UK, such as B&Q, see this as essential.

This project involved much work on standards, traceability, independent verification and consumer labelling. Such experience will be invaluable to those attempting to penetrate the retail and organics sectors.
